Alice Puckett Grimes started dance at the age of 5 under June Badon on Western Avenue in Orange, TX. She also trained under Lorena Lea of Lea Academy in Bridge City where she began student teaching, while simultaneously dancing with the Beaumont Civic Ballet under the direction of Marsha Woody. She went on to study under Lorna Badon Knaus with The Orange Jazz Company where she was a member for 5 years. She traveled the country attending dance conventions to further her knowledge in the art of dance and competed at regional and national levels earning numerous awards. After retiring as a dancing member of The Orange Jazz Company she became Co-Director of the company working alongside of Lorna Badon Knaus. She served on the Board of Directors and is now the Director of Orange Jazz Company. In 1993 she became a member of Dance Masters of America and South Texas Association of Dance Teachers, Inc. Members of these organizations must pass rigorous testing before membership is granted. Thereby earning the “Certified to Teach” seal. She has recently been elected as Vice-President and has served on the Board of Directors of this prestigious organization for 6 terms. She has also directed scholarship auditions and Miss Dance pageants within Dance Masters Chapter #3. She is also certified in Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique. Alice has spent the last 30 years teaching her love of dance to all ages at Lorna Badon School of Fine Arts. She credits “Miss Lorna” for teaching her the quality of training in a disciplined atmosphere that not only produces excellent dancers, but self-confidence and poise.
