WHAT TO KNOW

At Lorna Badon Legacy Dance Centre, we believe dance class is about so much more than steps and choreography. It’s about shaping strong minds, kind hearts, and confident spirits. Our goal is to educate the whole child—mind, body, and soul—through the discipline and joy of dance. Whether your child is twirling for the first time or stepping into their sixth recital season, this guide will help you feel fully prepared and confident from day one.

Dancers must meet the following minimum age requirements by August 1st of the current season:

    • Ballet – Age 2

    • Tap – Age 4

    • Jazz – Age 4

    • Lyrical – Age 6

    • Hip Hop – Age 6

Dance is a discipline, and how we show up to class sets the tone for how we grow. Here’s what we ask of every dancer:

    • Arrive on time, dressed and ready

    • Hair secured in a bun or snood; acro students may wear low braids/ponytails for ease

    • No jewelry, no gum, and only black sports bras if needed

    • Restroom visits should happen before class

    • Cell phones must be turned off

    • Late arrivals should enter quietly and respectfully

    • Always wear a cover-up over leotards when entering/leaving

    • Dance shoes should never be worn outside (to keep floors clean and shoes safe)

Wearing the proper attire isn’t just about looking the part—it helps students learn, move safely, and feel prepared. Each class has specific dress requirements, and all dancers must wear the correct shoes and clothing.

Attire is available at Center Stage Boutique - https://centerstagedancewearboutique.square.site/

We get this question a lot—"Why does my child need ballet to take other styles?" Here’s the truth: Ballet is the foundation. Just like you wouldn’t build a house starting with the roof, dancers need a strong base in technique to grow in jazz, lyrical, and other styles. At LDC, ballet is required for all subjects except Hip Hop and Acrobatics.
